Hello Rebel Souls,
It’s been a little while since my last post, and I wanted to take a moment to share why. Over the Christmas and New Year period, I made the conscious decision to step back and focus on what matters most—my family. With everyone home for the holidays, I spent precious time with my kids and husband, soaking up the moments we don’t always get in the busyness of daily life.
Christmas was a whirlwind of love and connection as we celebrated with both sides of our families over a couple of days. Afterward, I carved out some time to rest, recharge, and enjoy a relaxed New Year’s Eve at a good friend’s house. The evening was simple yet joyful, filled with a delicious barbecue, ping pong, and of course sparklers!
Leading up to Christmas, I was feeling pretty good. My Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) symptoms had been minor, and I was even able to enjoy a night out with some high school girlfriends—a rare and hilarious night. But a few days before Christmas, my symptoms began creeping back in. The pain has returned with intensity, my tics and spasms have reappeared, and walking has become much more difficult again. The fatigue is overwhelming, and I often need to rest or nap just to catch my breath.
This is the nature of FND—its unpredictability can be frustrating and, at times, disheartening. But I’m doing my best to lean on the incredible support of my family and friends. In a few weeks, I have an appointment with my doctor, and I’m hopeful we can explore new ways to manage my symptoms.
Despite this setback, I remain committed to my blog and the projects I’ve planned. I’m currently working on a blog post series reflecting on pivotal moments in my life—those experiences that shaped the way I think, behave, and ultimately brought me to where I am today. It’s not always easy to look back, and I’m mindful of the impact my words may have on others. I truly believe we all do the best we can with the tools and knowledge we have at the time, and my reflections come from a place of growth and understanding.
Thank you for your patience and for being part of this journey with me. Sharing my experiences and connecting with all of you is a gift, and I’m so grateful for your continued support.
Here’s to embracing the highs, navigating the lows, and finding strength in the love that surrounds us.
Take care of yourselves,
Linda x
